Remote Secure Backup

Remote Secure Backup

Remote secure backup for businesses & organisations

Our remote secure backup solution can compliment your inhouse on premise backup procedures. Ensuring your backed up data is stored away from site, protecting you from data loss in the event of fire or theft. Data is not only transmitted securely but stored securely also.

After the initial backup only changes are transmitted, so the backup process is usually quite quick. However, if you have a lot of initial data we can offer you a seeding service. This seeding service allows us to take a “snapshot” of your data and manually copy it to the backup server.

We can provide you with your own backup mini servers at different sites for a site to site backup, or you can use our remote backup server.

The site to site solution requires your sites to have static IP addresses and you will need a mini server per site. Devices at each site backup to their local mini server, then each mini server backs up to each other over night.

This service is exclusive to our maintenance customers.

How it works:

  • The agent on device, triggered by the user or automatically, backs up any new or changed files within specific locations.
  • Only the changes are transmitted using 2048bit encryption.
  • Data on the destination server is stored using BitLocker drive encryption.
  • Email alerts are sent of status of the completed backup, to either you or the end user.
  • A daily report is sent to the administrator about the status of all the devices with in the backup group.
  • I have a lot of data and/or slow internet connection, will this backup solution work for me?

Yes, the backup uses a special compression process and only copies parts of files that have changed. However in this case we wouldn’t do the initial backup via the internet, but use an encrypted USB Hard Drive to transport the first backup to our server. This is called seeding.

  • What is the cost of Backing up Files?

Our remote backup is just £6 + VAT per month for every 50GB slot. If you have the site to site solution it is £25 + VAT per month per mini server.

  • What is the cost of Restoring Files?

There is no cost to remotely restore files, however depending on how much and how quick you need your data you may want to use our reverse seeding service. For this we can copy large amounts or all of your data to an encrypted drive and deliver it direct to your door, there is a charge of £115 + vat for this service which includes the encrypted drive.

  • What happens to deleted files?

By default deleted files will remain in the backup, until overwritten or purged. So if a file was deleted weeks ago it will still remain on the backup. Backed up deleted files count towards your data usage, so we can purge them on request. A purge will remove all deleted files from the backup. It is not recommended but we can purge on a regular basis.

  • Is there a minimum term?

No. It’s paid monthly you can cancel at any time. Unless you request otherwise we will store your backup for a further 30 days before it is deleted. If required we can also send you the backup on an encrypted disk before we delete it.

  • Where is my data stored?

If you are using your own server, they will be stored on your premises. Our backup servers are based in the UK.

  • How secure is it?

Data is transmitted using 2048bit RSA encryption. Data is stored encrypted using 256bit AES encryption. Data can only be transmitted to the server. The only way to access the data is from the physical server, which is password protected and encrypted.
